should never exceed 104°F (40°C). A water temperature of 104°F is consid-
ered safe for a healthy adult. Lower water temperatures are recommended
for young children and when spa use exceeds 10 minutes.
b) Since excessive water temperatures have a high potential for
causing fetal injury during the early months of pregnancy, pregnant or possi-
bly pregnant women should limit spa water temperature to 100°F (38°C).
c) The use of alcohol, drugs, or medication before or during spa use
may lead to unconsciousness with the possibility of drowning.
d) Persons suffering from obesity or with a medical history of heart
disease, low or high blood pressure, circulatory system problems or diabetes
should consult a physician before using a spa.
e) Persons using medication should consult a physician before using
a spa since some medication may induce drowsiness while other medications
may affect heart rate, blood pressure and circulation.

elevated for easier breathing, cover the body with a blanket and apply ice
packs to the head.
