“COAXIAL”
socket, you can select from the following settings:
Off:
The digital output is switched off. This setting is suitable for devices
with analogue audio input.

Dolby Digital signals are fed unaltered to the digital output. General-
ly, this setting is used with receivers capable of Dolby Digital 5.1 channel
decoding.
PCM:
Dolby Digital and MPEG 2 multi-channel signals are converted to
PCM (Pulse Code Modulation). This setting is suitable for amplifiers or
receivers without digital multi-channel sound decoders.
Automatic:

lation). This setting is suitable for amplifiers or receivers with digital multi-

TV shape
You can setup your recorder to work with normal and wide-screen televi-
sions. Select one of the following options:
4:3 panscan:
Transmission of a wide-screen film on a TV with normal size.
The picture is displayed in full-height with the sides trimmed.
4:3 letterbox:
This setting will enable the “Letterbox” format, where the
movie is presented in wide-screen format with black lines at the top and
bottom of the screen.
16:9:
If you are using a wide-screen TV, set to the option “16:9” to match
the aspect ratio of your TV.
SCART output
By default the recorder is set to
“RGB off”
. Select
“RGB on”
, if you want
to activate RGB via the SCART output
“EXT1 TO TV”
.
RGB is an electrical transmission possibility for video pictures, i.e. it is a
picture signal, which is splintered according to the primary colours of the
TV (red, green and blue).

Note:
The 4:3 letterbox and 4:3 panscan settings usually will have no
effect, since very few movies support both options. DVDs are generally
recorded with either panscan or letterbox and do not allow switching
between the two.
