4.5.3
Guidelines for connections
Introduction
This section provides guidelines for the connection of process components to the
Chromaflow Packing Station.
General guidelines for connections
•
Use non-collapsible piping or tubing that has an internal diameter sufficient for the
flow rate specified. The inner diameter of the tubing and its connections should be
greater than or equal to the corresponding diameter of the system. Do not use sili-
cone tubing.
•
Inlet and outlet containers shall be located as close to the packing station as
possible, on the same floor of the building, and arranged so that back pressure and
suction height remains within system specification limits.
•
Keep the tubing lengths as short as possible to minimize hold-up volume in the flow
path.
•
Route the tubing to minimize the risk of tripping when operating the instrument and
connected device.
•
If hoses are violently pulled, for example caused by an accidental tripping, check
hoses and TC-connections for damage, leakage and mechanical rigidity before
continuing operation.
