D-Link DGS-3212SR Layer 2 Gigabit Ethernet Switch
(SMI) and adds some security features.
USM
– (User-based Security Module) Specifies that the SNMP version 3
will be used. SNMP v3 provides secure access to devices through a
combination of authentication and encrypting packets over the network.
Security Level
NoAuthNoPriv
−
Specifies that there will be no authorization and no
encryption of packets sent between the switch and a remote SNMP
manager.
AuthNoPriv
−
Specifies that authorization will be required, but there will be
no encryption of packets sent between the switch and a remote SNMP
manager.
AuthPriv
−
Specifies that authorization will be required, and that packets
sent between the switch and a remote SNMP manger will be encrypted.
SNMP Community Table Configuration
Use this table to create an SNMP community string to define the relationship between the SNMP manager and
an agent. The community string acts like a password to permit access to the agent on the switch. One or more of
the following characteristics can be associated with the community string:
An Access List of IP addresses of SNMP managers that are permitted to use the community string to gain access
to the switch’s SNMP agent.
An MIB view that defines the subset of all MIB objects that will be accessible to the SNMP community.
Read/write or read-only level permission for the MIB objects accessible to the SNMP community.

The following parameters can set:
Parameter
Description
Community Name
Type an alphanumeric string of up to 33 characters that is used to identify
members of an SNMP community. This string is used like a password to
give remote SNMP managers access to MIB objects in the switch’s
SNMP agent.
View Name
Type an alphanumeric string of up to 32 characters that is used to identify
the group of MIB objects that a remote SNMP manager is allowed to
access on the switch. The view name must exist in the SNMP View Table.
