MSS adjusts the NTP reply according to the following time parameters configured on the switch:
• Offset from UTC (configured with the timezone command; see “Setting the Time Zone” )
• Daylight savings time (configured with the set summertime command; see “Configuring
the Summertime Period”)
The NTP client is disabled by default.
Note: If NTP is configured on a system whose current time differs from the NTP server time by more than
10 minutes, convergence of the switch time may take many NTP update intervals. D-Link recommends
that you set the time manually to the NTP server time before enabling NTP to avoid a significant delay
in convergence.
Adding an NTP Server
To add an NTP server to the list of NTP servers, use the following command:
set ntp server
ip-addr
To configure a switch to use NTP server 192.168.1.5, type the following command:
DWS-1008#
set ntp server 192.168.1.5
Removing an NTP Server
To remove an NTP server, use the following command:
clear ntp server {
ip-addr
| all}
If you use the all option, MSS clears all NTP servers configured on the switch.
Changing the NTP Update Interval
The default update interval is 64 seconds. To change the update interval, use the following command:
set ntp update-interval
seconds
You can specify an interval from 16 through 1024 seconds.
For example, to change the NTP update interval to 128 seconds, type the following command:
DWS-1008#
set ntp update-interval 128
success: change accepted.
