DES-6500
create snmp host
Parameters
<ipaddr>
−
The IP address of the remote management station that will
serve as the SNMP host for the switch.
v1 – Specifies that SNMP version 1 will be used. The Simple Network
Management Protocol (SNMP), version 1, is a network management
protocol that provides a means to monitor and control network devices.

determines if an SNMP message is from a valid
source.
Encryption

scrambles the contents of messages to prevent it being
viewed by an unauthorized source.
noauth_nopriv
−
Specifies that there will be no authorization and no
encryption of packets sent between the switch and a remote SNMP
manager.
auth_nopriv
−
Specifies that authorization will be required, but there will
be no encryption of packets sent between the switch and a remote
SNMP manager.
