IV. Rod & Cartridge Removal Continued from DADCO’s Large Gas Spring Maintenance Instructions
Before beginning the repair process check the repair kit number laser marked on your cylinder. The following
instructions apply only to 90.10R Series Gas Springs with Repair Kit No. 90.201R.3000 laser marked on the cylinder.
4. Remove wear ring.
6. Tap or slide cushion collar
off from piston end.
1. Tap a new cushion collar
onto the rod assembly
from the groove end.
V. Cleaning & Inspection
V.a Rod Sub Assembly
1. Slide the cartridge off the
rod and discard.
2. Using the mallet or an
Arbor Press, seat the collar
against the rod safety ring
squarely. If retainer won’t
install,
STOP
and contact
DADCO.
3. Replace the retainer
halves behind the collar
to complete the rod sub
assembly.
Return to DADCO’s Large Gas Spring
Maintenance Bulletin Step VI., Step 3.
5. Remove two retainer
halves.
4. Add the wear ring. Extra
oil should be applied to the
housing o-ring, seal and
the inside of the housing.
Note:
The cartridge is shown in place to maintain stability of the rod.
7. Remove Rod Safety Ring.
2. Lightly polish the rod surface
with an emery cloth (600
grit). Inspect the finish of
the rod for any scratches or
gouges. If the rod is dam-
aged it must be replaced
.
4. Place the new Rod Safety
Ring on from the rear end
of the rod. Position the
new cartridge assembly
over the rod with the
wiper end marked “TOP”
facing up. Slide the
cartridge down the rod.
3. Inspect the Tube Assembly for
any damage, especially around
the mouth. Polish out any
scratches at the mouth to avoid
damaging seals during the
reassembly process. If damage
is severe it must be replaced.
Wash, clean and dry the inside
of the Tube Assembly. Be sure
to clean the retainer halves.
