10.4 Listening to the messages

Using the base:

1. Press Play/Pause. The number of new messages is announced, then the new 
message(s) will be played.
Or  press and hold Play/Pause and the number of all (new and old) messages is 
announced. The oldest message is played fi rst.

During playback:

Press Play/Pause, to pause a message. A beep will be heard every 10 seconds. Press 
Play/Pause again to resume playback.
Press Skip forward to play the next message.
Press Skip backward once to repeat the current message. Press Skip backward twice 
to play the previous message.
Press Del to delete the current message. “Message deleted” will be announced. 
Press and hold Skip forward to play messages at 1.5 times normal speed. Release 
the button to continue playback at normal speed.

Note: When a message is selected to be deleted, it will be deleted at the end of 
playback after the 8 second countdown and confi rmation tone.

At the end of playback:

The phone will announce “End of messages. To delete all messages, press delete”. 
Press Del (within 8 seconds) to delete all messages, you will hear “All messages 
deleted”.

Using the handset:

1. Press Menu  « PLAY MESSAGE » is diplayed, press Menu.
2. « NEW MSG » is displayed and the number of new messages, press Menu to play 
new messages only or scroll Down to « ALL MSG » and press Menu to play all of the 
messages. Listen into the handset earpiece to hear the message(s).

During playback:

Press Up or Down to adjust the playback volume. 
Press 1 or 4 once to repeat the current message. 
Press 1 or 4 twice to play the previous message. Press 3 or 6 to play the next 
message.
Press Phonebook to delete the current message. “Message deleted” will be heard.

At the end of playback:

The phone will announce “End of messages. To delete all messages, press delete” 
will be heard. To delete all messages, press Phonebook, “All messages deleted” will 
be heard.

10.5 Adjust the speaker volume

The base loudspeaker volume can be adjusted from low to high. Press Vol up to increase 
the volume, or Vol down to decrease the volume

10.6 Outgoing messages (OGMs) 

The outgoing message is the message a caller fi rst hears when the answering
machine picks up their call.

The phone has two pre-recorded outgoing messages, Answer & Record or Answer
Only, these can both be personalised.

The pre-set Answer and Record outgoing message, that allows the caller to leave a 
message, is “Hello, your call cannot be taken at the moment, so please leave your 
message after the tone”.

10.7 Record your own OGM

Recording a personalised OGM will replace the pre-recorded or the previous 
personalised OGM. However, the pre-recorded OGM can be re-instated at any time by 
deleting the personalised OGM, see page  25.

Using the handset:

1. Press Menu, scroll Down to « TAM SETTINGS » and press Menu.
2. Scroll Down to « OGM SETTING » and press Menu.
3. Scroll Down to « RECORD OGM » and press Menu.
4. Press Up or Down to select either « ANS AND REC » or « ANS ONLY » and press Menu.
5. Listen into the handset earpiece to hear “Please speak after the tone. To end 
recording, press #”.
6. After the long beep speak the message slowly and clearly into the handset, to end 
recording press #. The message will then be played back through the handset.

10.8 Answer Only

With Answer Only selected, the caller will hear an announcement only and will not be 
able to leave a message. The pre-set Answer Only outgoing message is “Hello, your call 
cannot be taken at the moment and you cannot leave a message, so please call later”.

If recording a personalised Answer Only message, remember to advise the caller that no 
message can be left.
To reinstate either pre-recorded message, delete the personalised message.

10.9 Message Alert

When you have new messages, when the audible message alert is switched on, you will 
hear an audible beep at the base every 7 seconds.
Press and hold Skip backwards to switch between message alert on and off .

10.10 Check the current OGM

Using the base:

Press On/Off , when the answering machine turns on the machine announces the type of 
OGM and plays it.

Using the handset:

1. Press Menu, scroll Down to « TAM SETTINGS » and press Menu.
2. Scroll Down to « OGM SETTING » and press Menu.
3. « PLAY OGM » is displayed, press Menu.
4. Press Up or Down to select either « ANS AND REC » or « ANS ONLY » and press Menu.
5. Listen into the handset earpiece to hear the current OGM.

10.11 Select the OGM

Using the handset:

1. Press Menu, scroll Down to « TAM SETTINGS » and press Menu.
2. Scroll Down to « ANS MODE » and press Menu.
3. Press Up or Down to select either « ANS AND REC » or « ANS ONLY » and press Menu 
to confi rm.

10.12 Re-instate the pre-recorded OGM

The personalised OGM can be deleted and the pre-recorded OGM restored.

Using the handset:

1. Press Menu, scroll Down to « TAM SETTINGS » and press Menu.
2. Scroll Down to « OGM SETTING » and press Menu.
3. Scroll Down to « DELETE OGM » and press Menu.
4. Press Up or Down to select either « ANS AND REC » or « ANS ONLY » and press Menu. 
The personalised OGM has been deleted and the pre-recorded OGM will be played.

Note: Pre-recorded OGMs cannot be deleted.

10.13 Answer delay

Answer delay sets the number of times the phone will ring before the answer machine 
picks up the call and starts playing the OGM.
This setting can be changed to between 2-9 rings or Time Saver. The default setting
is 6 rings. When the answer on/off  setting is set to off , the answer delay is 20 rings.

Using the base:

Press and hold the Skip forward button and release after the number of rings  
required.

Using the handset:

1. Press Menu, scroll Down to « TAM SETTINGS » and press Menu.
2. Scroll Down to « ANS DELAY » and press Menu. The handset will display the 
current setting.
3. Use Up or Down to select the number of rings required and press Menu to 
confi rm.

Time saver

When calling from another phone to access the messages remotely, if the answering 
machine is set to time saver and there are new messages it will answer after 2 rings, 
if there are no new messages, it will answer after 6 rings. So after 3 rings the phone 
can be hung up as there are no new messages, saving time and the cost of the 
call. The handset will automatically return to standby if no button is pressed for 15 
seconds or more.

10.14 Record a memo

Memo messages can be recorded for other users, these can be played back just like 
normal messages. Memos can only be recorded using the handset.

Using the handset:

1. Press Menu, scroll Down to « TAM SETTINGS » and press Menu.
2. Scroll Down to « MEMO REC » and press Menu. Listen into the handset earpiece to 
hear, “Please speak your messages after the tone. To end recording, press #, then a 
beep is heard.
3. Record the memo by speaking into the handset, press # to end recording.

10.15 Call screening

When the answering machine is on and takes a call, the loudspeaker can be used to 
listen to the caller leaving a message.

The handset display will show « SCREEN? ». Press Menu to begin screening the call 
via the handset. To take the call while screening, press Talk.

10.16 Memory full

If the memory becomes full during recording the machine announces, “Memory 
full”, and ends the call.
When the memory is full, the machine automatically switches to the Answer Only
The phone can store up to a maximum of 12 minutes recording or 59 messages.

11. USING REMOTE ACCESS

The answering machine can be operated from any Touchtone™ phone by calling the 
phone and entering a 3 digit security PIN code.

The default PIN setting is 000. To change it, see ‘Set the security PIN code’ on page
28. Using a PIN code prevents other people from accessing the answer machine and 
messages without permission.

11.1 Operating the answering machine from another phone

1. Dial the telephone number. During the OGM, press 

*

. The machine announces, 

“Please enter your security code”.
2. Enter your 3-digit PIN (default setting 000) within 8 seconds. “You have ‘n’ new 
messages” will be heard and they will be played back.

Note: If an incorrect PIN code is entered one further attempt will be allowed, if it is 
still incorrect “Incorrect security code” will be heard, followed by a beep and then 
the phone will hang up.

3. If there are no new messages, “You have no new messages, to hear main menu 
press 1” will be heard. If 1 is not pressed witrhin within 8 seconds, the machine 
hangs up.

When 1 is pressed, the main menu will be heard.
Simply follow the instructions as announced: 
“To play all messages press 2”.
“To play new messages press 3”.
“To skip back during messages press 4”. “To delete during messages press 5”.
“To skip forward during messages press 6”. “To set answer on or off  press 7”.
“To hear the outgoing message menu press 8”. “To set a new security code press 9”.
“To hear main menu again press 1”.
When the last message is played “End of messages” will be heard.

11.2 Set the security PIN code

Using the handset:

1. Press Menu, scroll Down to « TAM SETTINGS » and press Menu.
2. Scroll Down to « REMOTE CODE » and press Menu. The handset will display the 
current code.
3. Enter a new code and then press Menu to confi rm.

11.3 Check security code

1. 1. Press Del at the base. The security code is announced.

12. HELP

No dial tone

- Use only the telephone line cord supplied.
- Check that the telephone line cord is connected properly.
- Check that the mains power is connected properly and switched on.

No display

- Check that the batteries are inserted correctly and fully charged. Use only approved 
rechargeable batteries supplied.
- Check that the handset is switched on. Press and hold End Call.
- Reset the base by removing the batteries and disconnecting the mains power. Wait for 
around 15 seconds before connecting it again. Allow up to one minute for the handset 
and base to synchronize.

       icon fl ashes

.   Handset is out of range. Move closer to the base.
.   Make sure that the handset is registered to the base, see page 21.
.   Check that the mains power is connected properly and switched on.

Keypad does not seem to work

- Check that the keypad lock is not on, see page  13. 
 
        

icon is not scrolling during charge

- Adjust the handset slightly on the base.
- Clean the charging contacts with a cloth moistened with alcohol.
- Check that the mains power is connected properly and switched on.
- The battery is full. When the handset is fully charged,         icon will appear steadily on 
the display.

No Caller Display

- Check the subscription with the network operator, see page 20.
- The caller may have withheld their number.
- The record cannot be found in the phonebook. Check that the correct name/number is 
stored in the phonebook, with the full area code.

I have forgotten my PIN!

- Restore the phone to its default settings, see ‘6.7 Emergency default’, page 18.

Answering machine will not record new messages

- Is the recording memory full? Play and delete messages, see pages 24.
- Is the OGM set to Answer Only? Change the OGM to Answer & Record, see page 26.

Cannot register a handset to the base

- Up to a maximum of 5 handsets can be registered to a base. De-register a handset in 
order to register a new one, see page 28.
- Check that correct PIN code (default = 0000) has been entered.
- Check that the handset and base are at least one metre away from other electrical 
equipment to avoid interference when registering.

Handset does not ring

- The base ringer volume may be set to Off , see page 15.

Noise interference on my phone or on other electrical equipment nearby

- Place the phone at least one metre away from electrical appliances or any metal obs-
tructions to avoid any risk of interference.

13. GENERAL INFORMATION

IMPORTANT: This equipment is not designed to make emergency telephone call when 
the power fails. Alternative arrangements should be made for access to emergency 
services. This product is intended for connection to analogue public switched telephone 
networks and private switchboards in Syria, Jordan and Lebanon.

Safety and Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility information

- Use only the power supply suitable for this product range. Using an unauthorised 

power supply will invalidate the guarantee and may damage the telephone.

- Use only the approved rechargeable batteries supplied.
- Do not open the handset (except to replace the handset batteries) or the base. This 

could cause exposure to high voltages or other risks.

- Radio signal transmitted between the handset and base may cause interference to 

hearing aids.

- The product may interfere with other electrical equipment, e.g. TV and radio sets, 

clock/alarms and computers if placed them too close. It is recommended that the 
product is placed at least one metre away from such appliances to minimize any risk of 
interference.

- All batteries can cause property damage and/or bodily injury such as burns if a 

conductive material such as jewellery, keys, or beaded chains touch the exposed 
terminals. The conductive material may complete an electrical circuit (short circuit) 
and become quite hot. Exercise care in handling any charged battery, particularly 
when placing it inside a pocket, purse, or other container with metal objects.

- Never dispose of batteries in a fi re. There is a serious risk of explosion and/or the 

release of highly toxic chemicals.

- It is recommended that advice from a qualifi ed expert be sought before using this 

product in the vicinity of emergency/intensive care medical equipment.

Environmental

- Do not expose to direct sunlight.
- The handset may become warm when the batteries are being charged or during 

prolonged periods of use. This is normal. However, we recommend that to avoid 
damage, do not place the product on antique/veneered wood.

- Do not place the product on carpets or other surfaces which generate fi bres, or place it 

in locations preventing the free fl ow of air over its surfaces.

- Do not submerge any part of the product in water and do not use it in damp or humid 

conditions, such as bathrooms.

- Do not expose the product to fi re, explosives or other hazardous conditions.
- There is a slight chance that the phone could be damaged by an electrical storm. We 

recommend that it is unpluged from the power and telephone line cord during an 
electrical storm.

Connecting to a switchboard

This product is intended or connection to the public telephone network. The recall 
function may need to be used if connected to a switch. Contact the PABX
supplier for further information.
