Description of Parts
IMPORTANT:
Please read these instructions thoroughly before use and retain for future
reference.
The alarm will not attach to the mounting bracket unless battery is installed
correctly.
Removal of battery will render the smoke alarm inoperative.
Smoke alarms can provide early warning of possible fires.
Recommended Locations for Smoke Alarms

It is recommended to install one alarm in each room
–
see diagram below right.

As a minimum, locate an alarm in the immediate area of bedrooms (i.e.
landings).
•
Locate additional alarms to monitor any stairways as stairways act as a chimney
for smoke and heat.
•
Mount the alarm on the ceiling in the centre of the room, this places it closest to
all points in the room
•
When mounting an alarm on the ceiling, locate it a minimum of 50cm (20 inches)
from the wall

When mounting the alarm on a wall use an inside wall with the top edge of the
alarm at a minimum of 50cm (20 inches) below the ceiling.
•
The smoke alarm should be mounted at least 150cm away from lights, exhaust
fans, air conditioning units, air inlet/outlets, etc.
