Start-up
WARNING
If a Daikin Altherma EHS(X/H) is not started up properly, it
may not operate properly and can endanger human life
and health.
▪ Only heating engineers, authorised and trained by gas
and energy supply companies, are allowed to start up
the Daikin Altherma EHS(X/H).
CAUTION
If the Daikin Altherma EHS(X/H) is not started up properly,
it could lead to material or environmental damage.
▪ Observe the information concerning water quality in ac-
.
▪ During operation of the system, the water must be
checked at regular intervals on the building-side mano-
meter (green range) or by querying the controller (see
accompanying controller manual). If necessary, correct
the pressure by topping up with water.
Incorrect start-up voids the manufacturer's guarantee for the device.
If you have questions, please contact our Technical Customer Ser-
vice.
5.1
Initial commissioning
Once the Daikin Altherma EHS(X/H) has been installed and com-
pletely connected, it must be adapted once to the installation envir-
onment by expert personnel (configuration).
After this configuration is complete, the installation is ready for oper-
ation and the operator can make additional custom configurations on
it.
The heating technician must instruct the user, draw up the start-up
log and complete the operating manual.
The settings of optional components such as a room thermostat or
solar system must be carried out on the respective components.
5.1.1
Requirements
▪ The Daikin Altherma EHS(X/H) is fully connected.
▪ The refrigerant system is dehumidified and filled with the specified
amount of refrigerant.
▪ The heating and hot water system has been filled and pressurised
).
▪ The storage tank is filled up to the overflow (see
).
▪ Optional accessories have been installed and connected up.
▪ The heating system's control valves are open.
5.1.2
Starting the unit and start-up
INFORMATION
Please observe the operating instructions of the RoCon+
HP controller.
INFORMATION
If the storage tank temperature falls below specific min-
imum values, the safety settings of the Daikin Altherma
EHS(X/H) prevent the heat pump from being operated at
low outside temperatures:
- Outside temperature < -2 °C, minimum storage tank tem-
perature = 30 °C
- Outside temperature < 12 °C, minimum storage tank tem-
perature = 23 °C
Without backup heater:
The storage tank water must be heated to the required
minimum storage tank temperature with an external heater
booster.
With backup heater (
EKBUxx
):
At an outside temperature of < 12 °C and a storage tank
temperature of < 35 °C, the backup heater (EKBUxx) is
automatically switched on to heat the storage tank water to
at least 35 °C.
▪ To speed up the heating process with the backup
heater, temporarily set the [Config. of external heat
source] parameter = "1" and [Ext. hot water power] para-
meter to the maximum value of the backup heater
[→ Main menu → Settings → Ext. Source].
▪ Select the [1x Hot Water] parameter in the "User" menu
and switch it on. After the heating has completed, switch
off the parameter again [→ Main menu → User → 1x
Load].
5.1.3
Bleeding the hydraulic system
▪ Make sure that the automatic vent valve cap is open (item A).
Fig. 5-1
Automatic vent valve
▪ Provide the manual vent valve (item B) with a hose and direct it
away from the unit. Open the valve until water emerges.
▪ Fit the second manual vent valve (item C) with a hose and open it
until water emerges.
▪ Activate the air purge (see RoCon+ HP operating instructions).
By activating the air purge, the RoCon+ HP controller starts a per-
manently defined sequence program with start/stop operation of the
integrated heating circulation pump and various settings of the 3-way
switch valves integrated in the Daikin Altherma EHS(X/H).
Any air present can escape via the automatic vent valve during the
air purge and the hydraulic circuit connected to the Daikin Altherma
EHS(X/H) is evacuated.
