Surface Cleaning Tips
Caution: Do not try to clean surfaces that are made of pressed paper, cardboard, or any surface that
is painted with a non-enamel paint.
Wood Surfaces
General Wood Cleaning Information-
We do not suggest steaming “bare”, unprotected wood. Avoid
getting natural wood too wet or hot. Also, if the wood surface is waxed, use only cool moist towels to wipe
down the surface. You can remove old wax with smooth cotton fabric, such as a cotton diaper (several
layers) wrapped over the Large Triangular Brush (35) or Large Rectangular Brush (32) at low heat. Do not
use a regular terry cloth towel because of the towels rough textures. The rough textures will leave stroke
marks in the waxed surface.
Fine Wood Floors-
Use low pressure with a clean towel clipped over the Large Triangular Brush (35) or
Large Rectangular Brush (32). Heat the towel away from the surface and turn off the vapor before applying
the brush to the surface to do the cleaning.
Marble Floors
Use the same techniques as listed previously for fine wood floors. Keep heat and moisture off of surfaces as
much as possible. In marble floors with natural pits, use the nozzle and high pressure to blow out dirt and
accumulated junk from the pits.
We do not suggest applying chemicals to marble surfaces.
Note:
Do not deep clean marble more than once or twice a year and do not use a brush without a towel
clipped over it. It is possible to damage the polished surface of marble with a combination of too much
heat, moisture and hard bristles.
Removing Stripper Splash or Built-Up Wax from Baseboards
Use the Large Triangular Brush (35) with an abrasive pad insert. Use medium heat. Work smoothly and
allow the heat to dissolve the built-up stripper splash. Wipe up as you go. Old wax can be more quickly
removed if a light amount of stripper is applied beforehand using a sponge applicator. Allow the stripper to
work approximately ten minutes before using the vapor system to remove it.
Note:
Avinyl baseboard may look “washed-out” after cleaning. If so, apply a silicone treatment to renew
its appearance.
