Surface Cleaning Tips
Caution: Do not try to clean surfaces that are made of pressed paper, cardboard, or any surface that
is painted with a non-enamel paint.
Blinds
Vertical Blinds
Use the Large Triangular Brush (35) with a towel at low pressure. Open the blinds. Begin at the top of
each slat. Hold a towel in your opposite hand against the back side of the slat and move smoothly
downward with the Large Triangular Brush (35) on the front side. Switch hands and repeats on the opposite
side of the slay.
Caution:
Vinyl blinds can be damaged by too much heat. Consider replacing rather than cleaning them.
Horizontal Blinds
Use open vapor at medium or high pressure to blow loose dirt and dust off of surface of horizontal slats.
Then switch to the Large Triangular Brush (35) with a towel.
Close the blinds with top of slats facing you at low pressure. Brush side to side from top down.
The blinds should be closed from the opposite direction and clean with a side-to-side motion from the
bottom up. Or without opening the blind, remove if from its bracket and turn it so it now faces the wrong
direction, put it back in its bracket and clean from the top down again.
Use the nozzle without a brush to clean the upper mechanism and then to blow away cobwebs and loose dirt
from all parts of the window casement.
To clean the draw strings pull the blind all the way up, wipe them down with a towel that has been wet with
detergent, then pull the strings slowly through the Small Nylon Detail Brush (39) at medium pressure.
Note:
If you cannot remove the blind from its bracket, it is awkward, but possible to clean the back side be
holding the bottom of the blind out away from the window and cleaning it up over your head.
Tip:
For blinds which have lots of mildew, spray the slats with a detergent that contains bleach before you
begin. Allow five minutes before you start cleaning the blind.
