Installation Instructions for mounting a Dakota Digital Clock into a 55/56
Chevrolet .
Mounting the clock directly into the speaker bezel.
Tools and supplies required:
Black silicone RTV
Tape
1.
Remove radio speaker bezel from dash of car.
2.
Remove clock canister from speaker bezel. This is done be pressing the clock inward from the back,
turning it, and then pulling it out.
3.
Set lens into front of bezel with painted side facing the back of the bezel. Align 'masked' rectangle so that
the two set holes are directly below it. The lens should fit tightly about 3/8" in from the front edge of the
clock bezel ring. Due to variations between different bezels it may be necessary to tape the lens temporarily
in place from the front.
5.
Using black silicone RTV run a bead around the edge of the lens on the inside of the bezel. This will both
hold the lens in place and seal any gaps between the lens edge and the bezel. Allow the silicone to dry until
hard to the touch.
6.
Set the digital clock into the bezel from the back so that the notches along the edge of the circuit board align
with the tabs on the back of the bezel. The setting switches will be below the display and the wire on the
back will be on the top side of the clock. The tabs on the back of the speaker bezel will align the clock
properly.
7.
Run a second RTV bead around the edge of the back clock panel to secure the clock in place and allow to
dry.
8.
Reinstall the bezel into the vehicle.
Wiring your Dakota Digital clock into your vehicle.
The clock has four wires coming out of the back. They are connected as follows:
Orange wire
-Co12 volt. This will keep the clock time.
Red wire
-Sw12 volt (accessory position on ignition switch). This will light up the display.
Black wire
-Ground.
Blue wire
-Headlight or parking light switch. This will dim the display for night time driving intensity.
Setting the Time.
Using a small, thin object such as a toothpick or hairpin, press “set” buttons through front lens access holes.
Left “set” button advances hours, right “set” button advances minutes.
Adjusting the accuracy:
The clock is accurate to +/-2 minutes a month as it is sent. It can be tuned for better accuracy if desired.
Press and hold both of the set buttons for several seconds. The clock will display “C 0”. The “C” indicates that it is
in the calibration mode and the second number is the current calibration value. The calibration value indicates the
number of seconds to add or subtract each day. The clock can be adjusted from +7 sec/day to -7 sec/day.
Press the minute set button to change the cal value. Press the hour set button to return to normal clock operation.
