Module replacement
Except for the I/O module, all other DAS-300 E modules are hot-pluggable and redundant.
A module can be replaced whilst the DAS-300 E is running.
The following safety requirements must be observed when replacing a plug-in module:
z
Ensure that you have a replacement module of the same type before removing the
faulty plug-in module.
z
The DAS-300 E must never be operated with one or more unfitted bays for more than a
few minutes, since this may cause overheating of the DAS-300 E and thus power failure,
data loss and loss of warranty.
z
Ensure that you are electrostatically discharged (earthed) before you touch a plug-in
module. Wear suitable ESD shoes or a ground strap.

Replacing an HDD module
The bays for the HDD modules are located at the front of the unit. Greatest usability is
therefore guaranteed when replacing an HDD.
However, the following conditions must be paid attention to due to unit and data safety
reasons.
CAUTION
The following conditions must always be taken into account
when changing an HDD.
Failure to do so results in loss of warranty.

Case of service
A case of service is defined as replacement of a faulty or defective HDD. Please bear in
mind that the replacement may only be carried out by professionals authorized by Dallmeier
electronic. Please contact the Dallmeier support team, if necessary.
Furthermore, it must be taken into account that the bays of the DAS-300 E are not intended
for cyclical HDD replacement (external long-time archiving).
Approved HDDs
Only use HDDs that have been tested and approved by Dallmeier electronic when
replacing a faulty or defective HDD.
The following malfunctions and damages to the unit may arise if non-approved HDDs are
used:
z
Loss of recorded data due to incompatibility
z
Power supply unit failure due to excessive power consumption
z
Overheating of the unit due to excessive heat generation
