11 Motion detection
The motion detection function analyses if and how much two consecutive images differ
from each other. If the difference satisfies the set criteria, the function assumes a motion
event.
Actions/functions which are based on motion events:
• Recording
• Event recording
• SmartFinder

• Message transfer to alarm host
This dialogue may be locked by external devices/applications.
The motion detection settings can be tested with the motion indicator in the live video
frame.

Level SAD
Every image is split into sectors, with each being analysed for differences compared to the
previous image. The
Level SAD
(SAD = Sum of absolute differences) defines the minimum
level of alteration necessary to mark an image sector as altered.
