The next set of examples shows the effect of the range compression limit value on what would be
an otherwise binarized image given the contrast level of 255. For scenes with low contrast, lower
contrast limit settings can provide the optimal dynamic range, while higher contrast limits have a
smaller effect as the scene has less range than the limit itself. The following examples show that
for a low contrast scene where the majority of information resides in a range of ~25 DN (using
default parameters), setting the contrast limit to a value around this range provides the best
dynamic range (with maximum contrast setting).
