Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting Tree Legend

Within the troubleshooting trees, different shapes denote different types of actions:

Start & End

Indicates the beginning or end of a troubleshooting

procedure.

Action

Indicates a troubleshooting action to be performed

by the technician.

Decision

Indicates a decision point between two paths in the

tree.

External

Reference

Refers the technician to an external troubleshooting

process. This can be either another tree within this

guide or an external document such as a supplier

manual.

Subtree

Reference

Refers the technician to a subtree within this guide.

Subtrees cover general procedures which may

apply to many different errors (i.e., troubleshooting

problems with connectors, relays, or the CAN

network). The subtree entries are at the end of the

guide starting on page 715. After completing the

subtree, the technician should return to the original

tree.

Split

For legibility, some branches of the tree may be split

off to be displayed on a later page. Split branches

are labeled alphabetically (A, B, C…). When a

branch terminates in (A), the technician should

locate the corresponding (A) indicator on a

subsequent page of the tree and continue
