Propulsion System
The propulsion system converts electrical energy
from the ESS into mechanical energy to propel the
truck. It consists of an electric motor and a Traction
inverter. The propulsion system is available in two
configurations medium duty and heavy duty.
Component descriptions
Motor
The motor provides the power to propel the vehicle.
It is powered by AC high voltage supplied by the
traction inverter.
Traction Inverter
The traction inverter is the inverter and control unit
which supplies and controls the motor. The control
stage is powered by 12V low voltage from the
MPDM and communicates via the CAN B network.
The power stage (inverter) is powered by high
voltage.
Accelerator Pedal
The accelerator pedal transmits requests for traction
from the driver to the propulsion system. The pedal
position is detected by two redundant sensors and is
communicated via the CAN C network and dedicated
LV signals.
