Troubleshooting
F0058 - Emergency service cut loop is open.
Error Description
Possible Causes
Possible Solutions
VCU has detected that the cut loop
is broken.
1) Cut loop broken or faulty cut
loop wiring.
2) Cut loop bundle is cut or
damaged.
3) Loss of continuity on cut loop
signal wire (wire cut,
damaged, or 12V fuse F20
blown) AND loss of 12V to
ESS or loss of CAN
communication from ESS to
VCU.
1) Replace cut loop wiring.
2) Troubleshoot specific error.
The cut loop is a section of LV wiring which can
be cut by first responders to shut down the HV
system in an emergency.
If the cut loop is broken:
•
Contactors inside the S-Box will open to
isolate the high voltage battery packs from
the HV distribution system.
•
The VCU will notify the driver immediately
by raising error F0058 and will prohibit
restarting the vehicle.
If error F0058 has been raised, a service reset is
required to clear the error and restart the vehicle.
Attempting to start the vehicle without clearing the
error will raise an additional error message F0108.
A break in the cut loop is also expected to trigger
various other errors including F0016, BMS no
contact, and F0005/F0006/F0007 (fault reason
13).
If a cut loop problem is indicated, the cut loop
should always be inspected before
troubleshooting any other possible root cause.
If the cut loop is intact, the cause of the error may
be a blown fuse or a discontinuity elsewhere in the
wiring.
