Troubleshooting
F0026 (Fault Reason 40, 41, 42, 43)
Error Description
Possible Causes
Possible Solutions
BMS has detected a HV system
isolation fault.
1) Defective charger
2) HV system isolation fault
1) Replace charger
2) Contact Dana
This error indicates that the BMS has detected a HV
system isolation fault. The BMS monitors voltage
and current and raises an error if the calculated
isolation resistance falls below a threshold.
Fault reasons 40, 41, and 42 indicate that the error
occurred while in driving mode. These fault reasons
are numbered in order of increasing severity:
Fault Reason
Isolation Resistance
40
≤
600
Ω
/V (ohms per volt)
41
≤
500
Ω/V
(ohms per volt)
42
≤
400
Ω/V
(ohms per volt)
If fault reason 40 is raised, the high voltage power
and regenerative braking power will both be limited
to 50%. If fault reason 41 is raised, driving will be
disabled. If fault reason 42 is raised, the BMS will
request the vehicle to shut down. In all cases, the
vehicle will not be able to restart until the error is
cleared.
Fault reason 43 indicates that the error occurred
while in charging mode. In this case, the isolation
resistance threshold is 100
Ω/V
. The charging
process will be terminated.
If the error occurred during charging and
subsequently disappears when using a different
charger, it is likely that the error was caused by a
defective charger. The error should still be reported
to Dana.
The VCU independently monitors isolation
resistance and will raise error F0035, F0036, F0037,
or F0038 if a loss of isolation is detected.
In the event of a genuine loss of isolation, both a
BMS error (this error) and a VCU error (F0035,
F0036, F0037, or F0038) are expected to appear. If
F0026 (BMS Fault Reason 40, 41, 42, or 43)
appears alone, the technician should contact Dana
for further investigation.
Warning:
Loss of HV system isolation can
pose an extreme hazard and may result in
high voltage being present in parts of the
vehicle that are not normally energized. Use
extreme caution and report all instances of
this error to Dana.
