3+D Scanner Glass Inserts
The 3+D scanner comes with 96-well plates and circular glass inserts. The inserts should be
placed in the plate so that the closed ends face upward. The closed end is a concave surface and
each one can hold up to 12uL of liquid. Liquid samples can then be spotted onto the surface
using a micro pipettor or liquid handling robot. (IonSense does not support the robotic option.)
Each plate supports up to 48 samples, and the placement of the inserts depends on the
configuration of the 3+D scanner, left or right handed. These configurations allow for the
DART-SVP to be mounted on many instruments.

For Left Handed Rails
In this configuration, the sample plate will be introduced from the left side of the DART
Source. Due to the heat from the DART gun, samples cannot be placed on every row.
Instead, samples should be placed in every other row, starting with row A. The plate
should be mounted with A1 positioned in the bottom right corner, near the DART Source.
