3 Command Line Interface (CLI)
The V8102 enables system administrators to manage the V8102 by providing the com-
mand line interface (CLI). This user-friendly CLI provides you with a more convenient
management environment.
To manage the system with the CLI, a management network environment is required. The
V8102 can connect to the management network either directly (outband) or through the
access network (inband). It can even connect using a combination of the two; for example,
a cascaded V8102 connects inband to the cascading switch, and then from the cascading
switch to the management network through the outband interface.
The V8102 also provides the RS232 console interface to simply access the system with a
provided RJ45-to-DB9 cable.
This chapter describes a basic instruction for using the command line interface (CLI)
which is used for managing the V8102 system.
