Introduction to PinSite
The PinSite
Programming Module provides single-site support for
integrated circuits in surface mount and pin grid array (PGA) packages.
With PinSite, PGAs and surface mount devices (SMDs), including plastic
leaded chip carriers (PLCCs), leadless chip carriers (LCCs), and JEDEC
standard small outline ICs (SOICs), can all be programmed and tested in
one programming site. With a PPI (Package or Pinout Interface) base
installed, a variety of high pin count and unusual packages, such as QFPs
and PCMCIA cards, can be programmed.
The standard PinSite Module contains 16 pin drivers, extending
UniSite-xpi device support to 84 pins. The Device List shipped with each
UniSite-xpi software update lists the devices supported by PinSite in the
“Module” column.
Configuration
The PinSite module can program most types of surface mount devices.
Figure A-1 shows UniSite-xpi and the PinSite Module. Several
configuration options are available and are described in the following
paragraphs.
