3.3 POSITIONING
The DS2100N scanner is able to decode moving barcode labels at a variety of angles,
however significant angular distortion may degrade reading performance.
When mounting the DS2100N take into consideration these three ideal label position angles:
Skew 10° to 30°, Tilt 0° and Pitch 0°
.
Follow the suggestions for the best orientation:
Figure 35 - Skew Angle
Figure 36 - Tilt Angle
The
Skew
angle is represented by the value
S
in Figure 35. Position the reader to
assure
at least 10°
for the
Skew
angle. This avoids
the direct reflection of the laser light emitted
by the DS2100N.
For the raster version, this angle refers to the
most inclined or external raster line, so that
all other raster lines assure
more
than 10°
Skew.
The
Tilt
angle is represented by the value
T
in Figure 36. Position the reader in order to
minimize
the
Tilt
angle.
By using the Reconstruction Reading Mode
software parameter, the tilt angle is less
critical and can be decoded even if the scan
line doesn’t cross the entire code.
See par. 7.1 or the Help On Line for details.
The
Pitch
angle is represented by the value
P
in Figure 37. Position the reader in order
to
minimize
the
Pitch
angle.
