ISO 13489-1:2008
PERFORMANCE LEVEL (PL)
The PL is specified in EN-ISO13849-1. The risk analysis will lead to a PLr (Performance Level required) for a
safety function based on the following graph:

APPLICATION EXAMPLE

This example relates only to the features introduced in Vlase
™ to assist in the risk reduction from
the laser radiation. Any other risks (mechanical, electrical, etc.) must always be evaluated and
appropriate risk reduction measures must be taken where necessary.
The Machinery Directive and EN 13849-1 are NOT applicable to the product Vlase
™.
The target safety integrity or performance level (e.g. PLd according to ISO13849-1) shall be
determined by the machine integrator, taking into account the machinery directive, the harmonized
standards and any sector-specific standard that may apply.
