23 - PLU PRE-SET
DIGITS
(note)
The use of composite PLU codes (fixed + variable part) is possible in any of the scale operating
modes.
Follows these instructions to set up a proper programming environment before actually entering
PLUs:
1. use function
23 PLU PRE-SET DIGITS
,
to specify:
-
the number of digits in the variable part of the PLU. This corresponds to the digits that
the operator need to enter to specify a single PLU.
Suggestion: if there are hundreds of PLU to be sold, then choose 3 digits. If they are
thousands then choose 4 digits, and so on.
-
digits in the fixed part of the PLU. These corresponds to the digits that will be
automatically prepended to the variable part.
Since the overall PLU code length is 7 digits, the number of digits for the variable part is
7 - no.fixed-digits
example:
to set up a composite PLU code with 15 as fixed part and a variable part suited to accommodate up to 500 item choose
the following settings:
no. digits variable part:
3
fixed part:
15
Note
: the fixed part could be as long as 7-3=4 digits
2.
use function
11 PLU COPY
to copy the 2 “internally set PLU codes”, i.e. PLU 1 = weighed
random price “template” and PLU 2 = non weighed random price “template” respectively in PLO
no.:
f f f.....00..1
&
f f f.....00..2
└─┬─┘└─┬─┘
└─┬─┘└─┬─┘
fixed variable
fixed variable
part part
part
part
in the previous
example
, for instance:
copy PLU 1 to PLU 15001,
copy PLU 2 to PLU 15002.
PLUs 15001 and 15002 should then never be touched again (overwritten, deleted or modified), in order to be able to use
random prices.
Attention
: this operation is
FUNDAMENTAL
to assure proper operation of the
scale. It is mandatory to perform it before operating the scale.
3. now start programming PLUs (funct.
10 EDIT PLU
), remembering that their codes must be
specified completely (fixed + variable part) and are composed by:
first part = fixed digits
last part = variable part, with leading zeroes to provide a code with all digits wanted for the
variable part
using again the previous example, the PLU that the operator can specify with 24 must be programmed as PLU 15024.
4. to program hot-shot keys for PLU (funz.
00 HOT-SHOT KEYS
) use only the variable part of the
code.
