C.  Cable Connections for Capturing

Make sure your VCR or Analog sources output is connected to the inputs of the DAC-10.

A 6-pin FireWire cable can be connected to the rear of the DAC-10. The opposite end should
be connected to your FireWire connector on your computer.

If you would like to monitor your video, a composite BNC video cable can be used to connect
a video monitor.  Connect a composite BNC cable from the rear output of the DAC-10 and
connect the opposite end to the input of your monitor.

Note:  S-video cables only carry a video signal, so you will need to connect your RCA audio
cables to the converter to capture sound.

Helpful Hint:

The “OUTPUT” from one device, must go to the “INPUT” on another device.

D. Cable Connections for Exporting

Make sure your VCR or Analog sources output is connected to the inputs of the DAC-10.  We
also recommend connecting the composite output from the converter to a TV or Video Monitor
to verify the presence of a video signal.

E. General Software Recommendations

Connecting the DAC-10 to your Computer

Step 1

Power on your computer.

Step 2

Connect your Video and Audio cables.

Step 3

Connect your DAC-10 to your computer via FireWire. (IEEE/1394 Cable)

Step 4

Turn on your DAC-10 converter.  In Windows, you should hear a tone and see a
confirmation that the converter has been detected.  The dialog box will confirm that
an AVC Compliant Device was detected and it will ask you if you want to open a
specific application each time the device is attached.

Step 5

Launch Your Editing Application.

We recommend that you disable DV device control in your Editing Software.  The DAC-10
converter will not support DV device control commands.  In some cases, DV device control
will slow the editing application.

Make sure your Software is set to “mirror” what is on your timeline, with most software
applications this must be set or the result will be no DV output.
