Place the lamp between 30 and 70cm from your
eyes in the field of vision (at an angle of approxima
-
tely 30° in front of your face), it is not necessary to
continually look at the lamp, pursue your activities
normally (breakfast, office work, computering,
make-up...).
For a pleasant use, without a dazzling effect, make
sure that the room is lit (especially for the first days of
use) to minimize the contrast between the lighting of
the lamp and that of the environment.
It is advised to start the light therapy sessions as
soon as you feel a lack of light, before the first symp
-
toms of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) appear.
As a prevention or treatment for SAD, it is advised
to carry out sessions in the morning after waking up.
It is also advised to do one session every morning in
3-week cycles during the dark periods of the year.
These figures are to be adapted to each person de
-
pending on the results after a few days of treatment.
Maximum intensity white light option:
Maximum intensity blue light option:
Generally, all people wanting to compensate their
lack of light (SAD, working in a confined room...) with
light therapy must give priority to morning exposure :
we recommend an exposure of 30 minutes to 1 hour
(see above for the distance) at maximum intensity.
Morning exposure, ideally just after waking up is
recommended for people with delayed sleep phase
syndrome (falling asleep late and difficulties waking
up in the morning) and for people preparing a trip
easterly (crossing more than 3 time zones), the ef-
fects of jet-lag will be notably minimized.
Evening light therapy is reserved for people working
at night, people with advanced sleep phase syn-
drome (waking up too early) and for people preparing
a trip westerly (crossing more than 3 time zones) to
avoid jet-lag.
After your daily light therapy session, you can use
your Dayvia Slim Style lamp all day long as a back-
up light or a desk lamp by reducing the intensity of
the white light according to your wishes.
