1.0 PURPOSE
The Rollgliss
®
Rescue Emergency Descent Device is intended to be
used as a component of an emergency escape system to provide a
means of controlled descent from an elevated structure. It is designed
for vertical descent applications only.
wARNINg: The Rollgliss
®
Rescue Emergency Descent Device
must never be used for fall protection or to transport persons or
loads in non-rescue applications. Do not use the Rollgliss
®
Rescue
Emergency Descent Device for applications other than addressed in
this document.

Device
(1A), i-Safe™ RFID Label (1B), Instruction Label (1C), ID Label
(1D), Swiveling Snaphook (1E).
ImPORTANT: Before using this equipment, record the product
identification information from the ID label (1) into the Equipment
Identification Sheet at the end of this manual.

2.0 REqUIREmENTS
Installation and use of this equipment is restricted by the following
limitations:
CaPaCiTy:
•
This equipment is designed for use by persons with a
combined weight (including tools, clothing, body support, etc.) of
34 kg (75 lbs.) to 141 kg (310 lbs.).
DESCENT SPEED:
•
The speed at which the user will be lowered
when using the Emergency Descent Device increases with the
combined weight of the user. For vertical descents, the approxi
-
mate descent speed is 1.83 m (6 ft.) per second for a combined
weight of 141 kg (310 lbs.).
DESCENT HEigHT:
•
The maximum descent height is 15.2 m.
ENViRONmENTal aND PHySiCal HazaRDS:
•
Use of this
equipment in areas with environmental hazards may require ad-
ditional precautions to reduce the possibility of injury to the user
or damage to the equipment. Hazards may include, but are not
limited to: high heat, extreme cold, caustic chemicals, corrosive
environments, high voltage power lines, explosive or toxic gasses,
