Privacy Zones
Privacy Zones are designed to obscure an area of view from the local operator, without disrupting the
recorded images. The Privacy Zone is applied to the local output from the NVR and so is not available
in NetVu ObserVer or when a camera is Multicast. One Privacy Zone can be configured per camera,
allowing that area of the image to be obscured electronically. Privacy Zones are normally configured when
a camera is pointing towards a private residence, or into an area that should not be visible (eg toilet,
changing room). Privacy zones should currently only be configured on static cameras.
Note: When the Privacy Zone feature is implemented. The viewing software is commanded not to
display the privacy zone segment. The images are still recorded however. It is the responsibility
of the user to ensure all viewing applications support the privacy zone feature i.e. the viewer must
be able to read the meta data in the image header and suppress displaying the created privacy
zone.
How to configure a Privacy Zone
Use the mouse (either through the network interface of by plugging a USB mouse into the NVR and using
the local interface) to define the area to be obscured by clicking on one corner of the zone to be obscured,
and then clicking again to define the opposite corner.
Note: During Configuration, view the camera in different multi screen configurations to make sure the
mask covers the area to be obscured in all views.
