Introduction
Once you have installed the X400 Appliance in the rack, cabled the X400 cubes to the
switch(es), and verified the VLAN configuration, you must perform the following pre-
configuration tasks before logging in to the PowerProtect X400 Appliance
Configuration UI to configure the X400 Appliance.

Before logging in to the PowerProtect X400 Appliance Configuration UI, you must
collect the information described in the following sections:

You will need this information to configure the X400 Appliance in the UI.
License Authorization Code
You must have the License Authorization Code (LAC), which was emailed to you from
Dell EMC. If you have not received the LAC, contact your customer support
representative.
The LAC enables automatic download of the license when you initially connect to the
X400 Appliance, providing that the laptop you use to connect to the appliance has
external internet connectivity. If the laptop does not have external internet
connectivity, you will will need the LAC to manually download the license, as described
in
Obtain the Dell EMC PowerProtect X400 license file
on page 62.
X400 Appliance serial number
On the bottom right corner on the front of the X400 platform cube, locate the white
label on the pull-out information tag, and write the appliance serial number down. The
appliance serial number is a 14-character mix of letters and numbers used to identify
the X400 Appliance to Dell EMC support. The last nine digits of the appliance serial
number is the default password that you will need to enter in the Admin Credentials
page of the PowerProtect X400 Appliance Configuration UI. For the location of the
