Removing the Processor Thermal-Cooling
Assembly
CAUTION:
Before you begin the following procedure, follow the safety
instructions that shipped with your computer.

Follow the instructions in "Before Working on Your Computer" on page 29.

Loosen the two screws that secure the memory cover. (See "Removing a
Memory Module" on page 49 for an illustration of the memory cover.)

Slide the cover out of the compartment and set it aside.

Remove the fan (see "Removing the Fan" on page 41).

In sequential order, loosen the six captive screws that secure the processor
thermal-cooling assembly to the system board, and carefully lift the
processor thermal-cooling assembly out of the computer.
