The BIOS chip in the system board contains the Service Tag, which is also visible on a barcode label on the bottom of the
computer. The replacement kit for the system board includes media that provides a utility for transferring the Service Tag to
the replacement system board.
Removing the System Board Assembly

2. Remove memory module(s) (see

3. Remove the hard drive (see

4. Remove the optical drive (see

5. Remove the Mini-Card (see

6. Remove the center control cover (see

7. Remove the keyboard (see

8. Remove the display assembly (see

9. Remove the internal card with Bluetooth wireless technology, if installed (see

10. Remove the palm rest (see

11. Remove the ExpressCard cage (see

12. Remove the processor thermal-cooling assembly (see

13. Remove the processor (see

14. Disconnect the processor heat sink fan cable from the system board.
15. Disconnect the button board cable from the system board.
16. Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
17. Disconnect the wireless sniffer board cable from the system board.
