• Take note of the correct polarity (+/-) during
insertion.
• Replace all batteries at the same time and
dispose of the old batteries as prescribed.
• Warning! Batteries may not be charged or
reactivated by any other means, taken apart,
thrown into fire or short-circuited.
• Always keep batteries out of reach of children.
• Do not use rechargeable batteries!
• Cleaning and maintenance may not be car-
ried out by children without supervision.
• Clean the battery and device contacts as
needed and before inserting.
• Do not expose the batteries to extreme condi-
tions (e.g. radiators or direct sunlight). Other-
wise there is an increased risk of leakage.
• Batteries can be life-threatening if swallowed.
Therefore, always store them out of reach
of small children. Medical attention must be
sought immediately if a battery has been
swallowed.
Danger!
• Handle damaged or leaking batteries with
extreme caution and dispose of them properly
as soon as possible. Wear gloves when doing
so.
• If you come into contact with battery acid,
wash the affected area with soap and water.
If battery acid gets in your eye, rinse it with
water and seek medical attention immediate-
ly!
• The connection terminals must not be short-cir-
cuited.
Inserting batteries
WARNING! Observe the following
instructions to avoid mechanical and
electrical damage.
Before using the item for the first time, insert the
batteries (included).
1. Remove the waste-bin lid (1) and remove
the battery compartment lid (1a), which can
be found on the bottom of the waste-bin lid
(Fig. C).
2. Carefully insert the batteries (10) into the
battery compartment (1b). The batteries must
be inserted into the battery compartment
completely (Fig. D).
Note:
Check the plus/minus poles of the batter-
ies and insert them correctly.
3. Replace the battery compartment lid (1a) onto
the bottom of the waste-bin lid (1) again and
re-attach the waste-bin lid onto the waste-bin
outer drum (2).
Replacing the batteries
WARNING! Observe the following
instructions to avoid mechanical and

Should the batteries no longer function properly,
replace them as described in the insertion
instructions. Remove the batteries in the item
before inserting new ones.

Turning the item on and off (Fig. E)
• Press the switch (1c) to “I” to turn the item on.
• Press the switch (1c) to “O” to turn the item
off.
Operating the upper compart-
ment
You can open the upper compartment via its
sensor, at the touch of a button, or manually. For
the first two options, you need to switch the item
on first.
Buttons (Fig. F)
1. Switch the item on as described in the section
“Turning the item on and off”.
2. Touch the “Open” button (1d) to open the item.
3. Touch the “Close” button (1e) to close the item.
Sensor (Fig. G)
1. Turning the item on as described in the section
“Turning the item on and off”.
2. Move your hand above the sensor area (1d)
(1e) to activate the sensor. The waste-bin lid
(1f) opens.
Note:
The time counts down on the display
from 5 to 0.
3. The waste-bin lid automatically closes after
5 seconds.
