Perform the following steps for
Intermittent Black Smoke

1. Check for diagnostic trouble codes.

If Fault Codes are logged, diagnose the logged codes first.
2. Visually inspect the air filter restrictions.

If the air filter is clogged or dirty, replace the air filter.
3. Visually inspect the air inlet hoses for soft or collapsed areas.

If the air inlet hoses are damaged, replace as necessary.
4. Visually inspect the air inlet for restrictions.

If the air inlet has restrictions, clean as necessary.

7. Test drive the vehicle with DDDL and perform a snapshot. Analyze the snapshot.
