A.2 Legal provisions concerning the lighting of implements when using public
roads and paths in the Federal Republic of Germany
Prescribed lighting for different types of mounting. The lighting may be permanently installed or removable
(e.g. DIN 11027).

Mounted implements (installation of lights)
Trailer implements (installation of lights)
The mounted implement
covers the lights of
the carrier vehicle.
The mounted implement
projects by more than 40 cm
laterally over the outer edge
of the area from which
the light of the side lamps
or tail lamps of the carrier
vehicle exits.
On the rear, the mounted
implement projects by more
than 1 m over the tail lamps,
but does not cover the lights
of the carrier vehicle.
On the rear, the mounted
implement projects by more
than 1 m over the tail lamps,
and covers the lights
of the carrier vehicle.
On the rear, the mounted
implement projects by more
than 1 m over the tail lamps
and projects by more than 40 cm
laterally over the outer edge of
the area from which the light of
the side lamps or tail lamps exits.
The upper edge of the rear reflector may not be higher than 90 cm, measured from the ground. This is especially important when transporting
the mounted implements. The lateral distance of the rear reflector may not be greater than 40 cm, except for rear reflectors mounted in the middle.
