Control via the Digital Interface Options
The digital interface options provide basic monitoring and switching functionality
for up to sixteen switch modules, e.g. for the control via a PLC (Programmable Logic
Control). The switching status can be monitored for each switch module via relay
contacts and the switching can be performed for each switch module via a digital
signal.
Please refer to chapter 3.1.4 for the different digital interface options, to chapter
3.2.26 for the drawing of the digital interface module, and to chapter 7 for tech-
nical details and for the pin assignment of the digital interface module connector.
Note:
Since the digital interface is defined as a remote interface, it works only if the
device is in Remote Mode.
If the device is to be switched via the digital interface, it is highly recommended
to disable the CPH (i.e. to change the CPH configuration to "none/configuration
program", chapter 5.5.7.2.3) and not to issue switching commands via SNMP.
Otherwise, this might cause unpredictable switching behavior of the device.
When changing the operation mode in Simultaneous switching mode from
Local Mode or Auto Mode to Remote Mode, the setting of the first member of
a group determines the switching position of the group!
When switching the device to Remote Mode, it is not guaranteed that the
device is in the switching position(s) as given by the potentials of the contacts
of the digital interface. The switching via the digital interface is slope triggered.
Thus, it is recommended to generate a switching event after the activation of
Remote Mode for any switch module in Individual switching mode (or for the
first member of any group in Simultaneous switching mode) with the slope
direction for the desired switching positions, in order to synchronize the device
with the digital interface contacts.

Operation via Web Interface
The Web Interface is a comfortable user interface for operating the product, i.e. the
device is controlled via a computer and a Web Browser as the communication
application. Several users (assumed the appropriate number of licenses) can access
the device at a time. The first license is included in the delivery. It is possible to
purchase additional license keys at any time, please contact DEV Systemtechnik.
Note:
Most of the screenshots shown in the following were made from the
Web Interface of a DEV 1953 equipped with modules as stated in the example
of chapter 3.3.2, with applied Option 28 (automatic switch back), and with
applied Option 37 (TRAC). Other product configurations may deviate from the
layout but not from the basic functionality of the Web Interface.
Most of the screenshots were obtained from a device without applied digital
signals, thus indicators appear in red, and the digital signal quality indication is
"Fail".
