OPERATION
WARNING: To reduce the risk of serious personal
injury, turn unit off and remove the battery pack
before making any adjustments or removing/
installing attachments or accessories.
An
accidental start-up can cause injury.
Installing and Removing the Battery Pack
(Fig. A, I, J)
nOTE:
For best results, make sure your battery pack is
fully charged.
WARNING:
Before removing or installing battery,
make certain the lock-off lever is not engaged to
prevent trigger actuation.
To install battery pack:
Insert battery pack

into battery
housing as shown in
Figure i
, until fully seated and an
audible click is heard.
Make sure battery pack is fully seated and fully latched
into position.
To remove battery pack:
Depress the battery release
button

on the battery and pull battery pack out of
appliance as shown in
Figure J

Switching Pole Hedge Trimmer On and Off

Ensure the trimmer head is locked into one of the eight
operating positions. Refer to
Pivoting the Trimmer
Head
section.
To turn the unit on, squeeze the lock-off lever

and then
the On/Off trigger

To turn the unit off, release the On/Off trigger and the lock-
off lever.
WARNING:
Never attempt to lock the trigger in the
on position.
nOTE:
When the trimmer head is locked in storage position,
the unit will not turn on.
Before Operating Pole Hedge Trimmer
WARNING:
The unit has not been designed to
provide protection from electric shock in the event
of contact with overhead electric lines, Consult local
regulations for safe distances from overhead electric
power lines and ensure that the operating position is
safe and secure before operating the extended reach
hedge trimmer.
• For safe operation, read and understand all instructions
before using the pole hedge trimmer. Follow all safety
instructions. Failure to follow all safety instructions listed
below, can result in serious personal injury.
• Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not
operate pole hedge trimmer when you are tired.
• Only well-instructed adults should operate pole hedge
trimmer. Never allow children to operate.
• Do not use unit for any job except that for which it
is intended.
• Do not allow children or untrained individuals to use
this unit.
• Always use an ANSI/CSA approved hard hat when
operating the pole hedge trimmer overhead. Falling
debris can result in serious injury.
• Wear the following safety gear when operating pole
hedge trimmer:
