2. Feeding through of the aerial cable
In order to feed the aerial cable through, the following parts need to be removed:
-
instrument panel cover
-
relay compartment cover
-
oxygen bottle tube
-
baggage compartment covers (bottom and back)
The aerial cable is delivered over length without terminals.
First only connect the HF-connector (connects to transponder) to the cable, to
make feed through easier.
The aerial cable is then installed parallel to the instrument lines and the empty
pipes of the main cable harness.
Push the free end of the cable through the recess in the bottom of the instrument
panel towards the relay compartment. From there on the cable has to be pushed
through underneath the seat towards the compartment where the C.G. tow
release is mounted. Underneath the oxygen-bottle tube a recess in the front main
bulkhead can be found where the cable can be pushed through up to the rear
main bulkhead. There, following the instrument lines, install the cable in the
“U” of the rear main bulkhead and then go through the hole, drilled earlier.
To facilitate easier mounting of the BNC-Connector, cut the cable approx. 30cm
behind the hole. Attach the BNC-Connector to the cable and then connect to the
aerial through the elbow connector. Pull the excess of cable back into the
compartment in front of the rear main bulkhead, form it into a loop and fix it
with a ty-rap.
In the engine bay, the aerial cable has to be covered with the aluminium tape in
order to protect it against engine heat exposure.
