Fuel injection (primer)
The engine is equipped with a fuel injection system for engine start
(primer) instead of a choke butterfly valve. The injection valve is
positioned on the engine close to the carburettor.
The injection pressure is provided by the electric fuel pump. Via a
switch in the instrument panel the primer can be switched off or to
automatic operation.
With automatic operation the control unit controls the amount of fuel
injected in correlation to the coolant temperature.
With a cold engine the full amount will be injected and injection
continues for a certain time to prevent the cold engine from stopping.
With a warmer engine a smaller amount will be injected in pulses
according to the temperature. With a hot engine nothing will be
injected. The DEI-NT displays a syringe on the centre display as long
as fuel is being injected, setting of the primer see section 4.23.
1.13.9
Flexible fuel bags in the wings (Option)
The fuel bags should normally be kept in the wings.
Instructions for replacement see sect. 4.11.
If the bags have been removed, they should be stored at temperatures of
ca. 15°C - 25°C (59°F - 77°F) and relative humidity of 50-70%.
The bags have to be protected against light and should not be stored
near electrical machines.
When stored the tanks should not be emptied completely but contain at
least 0.5 l (. 13 U.S.gal) of fuel or a thin engine oil (e.g. SAE 10)
should be filled into the tanks.
Before reinstallation check the bags for any wear or cuts. Be careful not
to damage the tanks.
Note:
Also if the tanks remain in the wings, they should not be emptied
completely for longer storage periods.
