BorderNet™ 2020 Integrated Multimedia
Gateway Quick Start Installation Guide
This document provides a high-level overview of how to connect power and network cabling
for the BorderNet 2020 IMG. For detailed information about installation and setup, refer to
http://www.dialogic.com/manuals/bordernet2020img1.0/default.htm
Before you begin, review the packing list to verify that you received all items listed. If there
are any discrepancies, contact your Dialogic representative.
Locating the Base MAC Address
The base MAC address is printed on the identification label located on the underside rear of
the 2020 IMG. The base MAC address is assigned to the CTRL ports. The other MAC
addresses are under software control.
Use this base MAC address when configuring the IP address. Because of its location, we
recommend that you obtain the base MAC address before you install the system. The
identification label is similar to this example:
Connecting AC power
AC power modules must be plugged into three-prong grounded outlets. Do not use the
external grounding points on the rear of an AC 2020 IMG to ground the system. These
grounding points are for DC system grounding only.
AC input power:
100 - 240 V AC, 60 - 50 Hz, 2 A - 1 A
115 V AC @ 2 A, or 230 V AC @ 1 A
Redundant, hot-swappable AC power modules are located at the rear of the docking station.
Note:
When connecting a second power supply, you do not need to turn off power to the
primary AC power module.
Connecting DC power
You must connect the DC 2020 IMG to earth ground before connecting power. To connect a
ground to the DC 2020 IMG, use 10, 12, or 14 AWG machine tool wire (MTW) (green/yellow
for earth ground). Dialogic supplies a two-hole #10 solderless crimp grounding lug that is
attached to the grounding screws on the rear of the 2020 IMG.
Caution:
Do not daisy-chain two or more systems. Do not wire the 2020 IMG directly to
other equipment or to a common bus bar.
DC input power:
-40 to -60 V DC (-48 V DC nominal) @ 6 A
Redundant, hot-swappable DC power modules are located at the rear of the docking station.
Warning! You must connect the 2020 IMG to a true earth ground to maintain
signaling integrity and to prevent electrical shock. Do not connect ground to -48 V.
