Connecting the printer to an AC outlet
Tips on handling the power cord
To operate the printer with maximum safety, always observe the following
precautions:
•
Avoid using an extension cord. However, if this is unavoidable, be sure to take
the following precautions. (Failure to do this may result in overheating, fire, or
flickering due to a drop in voltage.)
•
Be sure not to exceed the allowed current rating of the extension cord.
•
Use only a short extension cord. Do not connect several extension cords
together as this is dangerous.
•
Disconnect the printer by pulling on the plug, not the cord.
•
Turn off the printer and disconnect the power plug in the following situations:
•
The printer produces smoke, odor, or excess noise.
•
The cord or plug is damaged or gets frayed.
•
A liquid is spilled onto the printer or into the interior.
•
The printer is exposed to water or excess moisture.
•
The printer falls or any damage is caused to the exterior.
•
Service or repair is required.
•
The printer needs to be cleaned. (Use only the recommended cleaning
procedure.)
•
Keep the outlet free from any obstacles to allow easy access to it.
•
Do not overload the AC outlet and extension cords as this causes a risk of fire or
electrical shock.
