MIB II
MIB II, like its predecessor, the Internet-standard MIB, contains only essential
elements. There is no need to allow individual objects to be optional. Rather, the
objects are arranged into the following groups:
•
System
•
Interfaces
•
Address translation (deprecated)
•
IP
•
ICMP
•
TCP (not supported by the DECagent 90)
•
UDP
•
EGP (not supported by the DECagent 90)
•
Transmission (not supported by the DECagent 90)
•
SNMP
•
IETF bridge
•
Character
•
RS-232-like
These groups are the basic unit of conformance. This method is as follows:
If the semantics of a group is applicable to an implementation, then it must
implement all objects in that group. For example, an implementation must
implement the EGP (Exterior Gateway Protocol) group if and only if it
implements the EGP.
Bridge Group
Objects in this MIB {mib-2 17} are arranged into groups. Each group is organized
as a set of related objects. The overall structure and assignment of objects to
their groups is shown in the following list:
