2.1.2

Installing the Host Adapter

You must do the following to successfully install the host adapter:

1.  Install the host adapter board in your computer; the board connector is held in place with

the screw you removed from the blank panel. Ensure that the board end plate metal tab
aligns in the computer chassis opening properly; otherwise the adapter will not seat
properly.

2.  Replace your host computer covers; refer to your host computer manual for additional in-

formation, if necessary.

The adapter is now physically installed. To complete the installation of the adapter, you need
to connect it to the subsystem, and load the appropriate Adaptec adapter driver software.
Some computer systems may also require you to run configuration utilities.

2.2

Connecting the SCSI Cable to the Host System and the Subsystem

Connect the host system to the subsystem by fastening an end of the SCSI cable to each.

1. Connect one end of the BN31G-02 two meter cable to the SCSI port on the host adapter

board as shown in Figure 2

1.

Figure 2–1  Host System SCSI Connector

2. Secure the SCSI cable to the host adapter by tightening the two screws on the cable con-

nector.

3. Connect the other one end of the BN31G-02 two meter cable to the SCSI connector on the

back of the subsystem shown in figure 2

2.

4. Secure the SCSI cable to the controller by tightening the two screws on the cable connec-

tor.
