3. Loading sample through the waste line: To avoid the
possible outgassing effects of using suction to draw the
sample through the waste line, connect a luer fitting and
sample-filled syringe in the end of the waste line. Connect
the other end of the waste line into injection valve port
#6. Place the valve in its
LOAD
position. Insert the needle
adaptor shipped with the Rheodyne valve into the needle
port. Push sample through the waste line. Waste will exit
the valve through the needle adaptor. No sample to be
analyzed will come into contact with the metal needle of
the needle adaptor (see Figure 3-8).
