OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
DANGER! Read and understand the complete User Manual before assembling or
using this equipment! Failure to comprehend and comply with these warnings,
cautions, and instructions for assembly and operation could result in serious injury

equipment can be dangerous. It is the sole responsibility of the operator
to understand the assembly and safe operation of this equipment.
CAUTION! Oil must be added to the engine before starting or operating.
ENGINE OIL RECOMMENDATIONS
SAE 10W-30 is recommended for general use. Refer to the SAE Viscosity Grades chart in
your Engine Owner’s Manual for average temperature ranges. The engine manufacturer
recommends using API SERVICE category SE or SF oil.
STARTING INSTRUCTIONS
For information on starting and stopping the engine, refer to your Engine Owner’s Manual.
WARNING! NOTE: For operation in wooded areas, obtain a spark arrestor for the
exhaust system. See the Engine Operating and Maintenance Manual and check with
your authorized service center. See also Fire Prevention in Section II • Safety in this
User Manual.
WARNING! TOWING: Before towing, the safety chains must be secured to the hitch or
bumper of the vehicle. Local regulations should be checked regarding licensing, lights,
towing, etc. Turn the engine off prior to towing. Do not exceed 15mph (24km/h) when
towing this equipment. See also Towing Safety in Section II • Safety in this User Manual.
Please refer to Section II • Safety in this User Manual for an extensive list of warnings and
precautions to follow prior to operating this equipment.
STARTING YOUR EQUIPMENT
1.
Position your machine on flat, dry ground.
2.
Make sure the fuel shut off valve is in the “ON” position.
3.
Move the choke control lever to the “CHOKE” position (should only be needed if the engine
is cold).
4.
Move the throttle control lever to the “FAST” position.
5.
Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position. Grasp the recoil starter handle and slowly pull
until you feel resistance. Let the cord retract a little bit then pull the cord rapidly to start the
