Data Communication
Data Communication Available for the
FOMA Terminal
Available data communications between the FOMA
terminal and PCs are classified into 3 categories:
packet communication, 64K data communication and
data transfer (OBEX
TM
communication).
Data transfer (OBEX
TM
communication)
You can exchange data such as images, music,
phonebook and mail between other FOMA
terminals or PCs, etc.
Packet communication
This communication is charged on the basis of
the amount of data transmitted
*1
. Communication
is available up to 7.2 Mbps
*2
at downlink and up
to 384 kbps
*2
at uplink in the FOMA High-speed
area. This is the best effort type service, whose
communication speed varies depending on
communication environment or network traffic.
• When using packet communication with DOCOMO
PDA “sigmarion
Ⅲ
” or “musea”, communication
speed is up to 384 kbps for both uplink and
downlink. High speed communication area
communication is not supported.
You can also access a corporate LAN connected
to the FOMA network.
Use an access point that supports FOMA packet
communication, such as DOCOMO Internet
connection service “mopera U”.
Packet communications are performed via the
FOMA USB Cable with Charge Function 01/02
(optional) connected to a PC or via a dedicated
cable connected to a PDA.
*1 : Note that the communication charge can become very
expensive when the large data files are transmitted.
*2 : These are nominal values, and the actual
communication speed varies depending on the traffic
or communication environment. When you are outside
the FOMA High-speed area or use the non-HIGH-
SPEED access point, communication speed is up to
384 kbps for both uplink and downlink.
64K data communication
Regardless of the data amount, 64K data
communications are charged on the basis of the
connection time.
*
Use an access point that supports FOMA 64K
data communication, such as DOCOMO Internet
connection service “mopera U”, or ISDN
synchronized 64K access point.
64K data communication is performed via the
FOMA USB Cable with Charge Function 01/02
connected to a PC or via a dedicated cable
connected to a PDA.
• 64K data communication is not available for
overseas use.
*: Note that the communication charge can become very
expensive when performing the long-time connection.
