PRIOR TO STARTING (GENERATOR)
If the generator should become exposed or saturated with moisture/
water deposits, it must be safely dried off before attempting to make
any part or conductor electrically live. This should be done by wiping
away excess water, then running the engine with no electrical loads
connected, until the generator is completely dry.
Ensure all persons concerned are suitably competent with electrical
installations.
Ensure that there is a safe working procedure which has been issued
by supervisory personnel, and that it is understood by all persons
concerned with the operation of the generator.
Ensure that the safety procedure to be applied is based on the
appropriate national regulations.
Ensure that the safety procedure is followed at al times.
Ensure that suitable guidance codes are available to indicate safe
working practices, and any hazards to avoid.
Before starting the engine and switching in the generator load, ensure
that :-

The system has been inspected and earthed.
•
No persons are in a hazardous position.
•
Any warnings necessary have been suitably displayed (where
applicable).
Ensure compressor / generator mode switch is set to compressor.
