Engine Oil and Filter - Replace
NOTE:
Change engine oil and filter after every 500 hours of
operation or rebuild.
1.
Position a larger container under the engine. Remove cap
(1, Figure 47) and install hose (2) to drain the engine oil.
Remove hose (2) and install cap (1).
NOTE:
Dispose of drained fluids in compliance with all
applicable environmental laws and regulations.
2.
Unscrew the filter cover using the hexagon wrench, e.g.
36 mm socket. See (2, Figure 50).
3.
Lift out the filter housing cover with filter. The filter housing
will drain automatically once the filter has been removed.
4.
Detach the old filter from the cover by holding the cover
and carefully tapping the entire filter against something
hard. Remember there will be oil splashes.
5.
Install the new filter and tighten the filter cover to 25 N.m
(18 lb ft).
WARNING
AVOID DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY
DO NOT change oil on a hot engine. Allow the engine to
cool down before attempting to change the engine oil and
filter to avoid burns by touching hot engine parts.
