TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Insure ED50 OHC header installation is qualified
for use at the respective smoke or fire-rated
door.
NOTICE
Door jambs, door(s) and installation by
customer.
2.1 Intended use.
The ED50 is a low power electromechanical operator
used exclusively for opening and closing interior or
exterior swing doors.
2.2 Packaging
The ED50 operator is packaged in a header for overhead
concealed (OHC) installation.
For double swing doors, two ED50 operators are
packaged in a single header.
2.2 Low energy operator.
The ED50 is supplied only as a low energy operator
(ANSI/BHMA A156.19).
The operator is supplied with a
reduced power motor and a brake. The brake is used
during door hold open time.
WARNING
To reduce risk of injury to persons, use this
ED50 low power operator only with an
automatic door for which the ED50 is
designed for. Reference Chapter 7, Technical
Data.
2.3 ED50 separate modules
(Fig. 2.3).
2.3.1 Single door header; modules supplied:
• Low voltage wiring connection module.
• Main power module.
2.3.2 Double door header; modules supplied:
• Two
low voltage wiring connection modules.
• Two main power modules.
2.4 Installation hardware packages.
Refer Chapters 5 and 6 for OHC header single and
double door installation hardware.
